Traders' body criticises Delhi CM for allowing home delivery of liquor #FinanceIndia #StockMarketNEWS
Traders' body criticises Delhi CM for allowing home delivery of liquor New Delhi, Jun 2 (KNN) The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has strongly criticised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allowing home delivery of the liquor instead of opening shops and markets.

"At a time when despite of several logical requests and keeping in view of the considerable fall in coronavirus cases in Delhi, Kejriwal did not allowed the shops to open but whereas on the other hand, by amending Delhi Excise Amendment Act,  he has allowed home delivery of the liquor which shows that "liquor" is more important for him rather than the livelihood earned not only by the traders but also by their employees"-said Praveen Khandelwal, CAIT Secretary General on Tuesday while reacting to the latest move of Delhi Government.

Khandelwal said that home delivery of the liquor can be taken at a later stage.  The timings of the order are questionable as during the current lockdown period, Kejriwal claims that each step of the government is being taken into consideration after analysing all pros and cons and after having consultations with the people.

Will he (Arvind Kejriwal) clarify as to whom he consulted for this matter, the traders body questioned.

Khandelwal said that here lies the priority and opening of shops and markets would have a natural priority but in the instant case, Kejriwal has chosen home delivery of liquor as his first priority in comparison to opening of shops.

He further said that this move of the Delhi Government is purported to be taken with a view to earn revenue. Even by allowing the shops and markets to open from May 31st, 2021, the Government could have fetched substantial revenue by sale proceeds which would have been made by the traders on the one hand and also providing opportunities for earning livelihood of people of Delhi.
